This is great! So cool to see you interconnecting the different threads of your curiosities this past year and to watch what is brewing...big things.
Found the connection between declining religion and the search for meaning in other communities like work to be fascinating. Curious if you've ever read the book Quarterlife -- it's about the big thinking about life meaning that people undergo at 25. Feel like you'd enjoy it.
thanks for noticing Kiera! it's also not just decline of religion, I think other things like social media, remote work, having fewer kids, etc. all play a subtle role here. and yeah I've heard of the book, actually my friend Aish gifted me a copy but I have yet to really dig into it. got some other big reads to get to first. but it's def on my reading list!
Congrats, Matt! I love the new name. I also found the concept of the "adjacent possible" to be very reassuring early on in my transition away from a traditional career. I was introduced to the concept via Paul Farmer in his book of speeches, "To Repair The World."
I really enjoyed this Matt, thank you. This approach to rediscovering/remembering/rekindling our humanity feels like the antidote to the widespread pessimism I see people have about our future (or as I call it, the "We're So F****d" mindset). I'm excited to keep reading your work and exploring this path alongside you!
thanks Ryan! yeah it kinda blows my mind because I would never think of it that way, but yeah.. I'm concerned for young men between like 12-22, as someone who used to be addicted to video games, I can see how easy it is to slip into a dependence on fake realities
Big fan of the change Matt. And makes sense with your journey.
We've prioritized Economic Flourishing and Techno Flourishing, while missing the bigger picture of Human Flourishing.
While some believe the former 2 to be ends in themselves (e.g. Capitalism or Techno-Optimist), we need to remember they are means to more important ends.
thanks Rick! yeah the framing of economic and techno flourishing is interesting. it explains why I've always been so intrigued whenever I see people living great, happy lives without much (money or technology), whether it's been through traveling or seeing alternative ways of living (tiny homes, vanlife)

Thank you!! I haven't heard of Paul Farmer. Gonna check him out!
Highly recommend ALL of his work. Tracy Kidder also wrote an incredible book about his work in Haiti called "Mountains Beyond Mountains."
Inspiring writing, thanks for sharing Matt!
thanks for reading, Johnny. appreciate your attention and your comment!
