Really resonated with your description of those Zoom call vibes.

Before you figured out your interest in climate, what was your primary goal with meeting folks? Curiosity conversations? Friends? Something else?

I'd say less than 1/2 of the calls are climate related actually. I'm interested in quite a few topics that I've never written about or mentioned before and whenever I see someone doing something that I'm interested in, I will sometimes reach out. When I first was on sabbatical, I actually didn't reach out to many people. From Jan to March, I was skiing in Tahoe and mostly kept to myself. Now, I'm much more forward with reaching out to people who I think I'd have interesting convo with.

Loved the predictions. The first reminded me of companies like Selina and Cabin (built by a former WoP alum!): https://cabin.city/

The last point about seasonal hybrid companies makes total sense and appeals to me on so many levels. It will probably be precipitated by a shift in property leasing structures, as companies will have to navigate seasonal leases & accommodation. Though that may become easier with services like The Subletter... ;-)

oh ya I've stayed in Selina at Cusco and met some Cabin folks. Could definitely see them continuing to trail-blaze. The seasonal thing will be tough the larger the org gets. Easiest if it's just one person, but I could see a small team of 4-6 friends who work together making it work

Great read, Matt! Thank you for writing this just now - it’s inspiration for me as I get ready to step out of the corporate world again :)
