I loved when you wrote, "falling behind doesn’t mean you can’t catch up." I’ve had this quietly in the back of my mind since quitting my job two years ago and moving to Japan. I still remember our phone conversation before we moved because I was so nervous about such a big life decision, and it ended up being the best decision for our family!

AI was already accelerating when I left the workforce but it still felt more like “learn how to prompt.” Now it feels like everyone is playing with agents, workflows, and unlimited tokens at work for 8-10 hours a day, while my work and life looks pretty different. Sometimes I worry I’m falling behind in that aspect, but this was reassuring to read.

Also loved the “small wants” section. Moving to Japan has made my life and career feel less linear, but it’s also made me think more deeply about what I actually want out of life - learning a new language and way of life, getting more involved in education, having more time with my daughter, living in a walkable neighborhood, and being present in this season.
